New Year's was celebrated with a dinner out on the 30th with just adults- and a little celebration for Rob and I of the day we got engaged 11 years ago. New Year's eve we celebrated with our friends the Morley's, with dinner in, games and letting the kiddos play. Why is everything about food for me? A sign of a GREAT night is really good food- the menu was: Filet Mignon, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Salad, fresh baked rolls, vegetable, Tres Leche and Becca's super AWESOME Brazilian lemonade. Neither us or the kiddos made it to midnight which was a good thing because we had early morning church the next morning. All in all it was a great way to usher in the New Year.

New Years 2011
I sadly neglected to take any pictures of New Year's, but it was fun nonetheless. The week between Christmas and New Year's was not as relaxing as we'd hoped. Some of it was self-inflicted and some was not. If you remember one of our previous posts I showed the damage inflicted upon our home through the "Great Wind Storm of 2011". The day after Christmas was new roof day. The roofers showed up at sun-up and didn't leave until sun-down. In one day they had the entire roof taken down (which was three layers and one was wood shake shingles), plywood put up on top of the skip deck and all the dry seal done. They worked liked the Flash. They finished up later that week with Shingles and membrane on the "flatter" parts of our roof. As for the self-inflicted non-relaxing part, we decided to remodel a bathroom while Rob was home and had some time. It feels so nice to have a more updated bathroom- that is brighter and makes me happy every time I go in.

Christmas 2011
Christmas 2011 was fantastic. It was special and a little schedule-challenging to have it on Sunday. There is NO-where I'd rather be on Christmas than partaking of the sacrament and showing my outward devotion to Jesus Christ. As wonderful as it was to take an hour out of the day, it did feel really non-stop.
Christmas Schedule:
7 a.m. wake-up Christmas morning at our house
8:30- Leave our house dressed for Church, presents, food and changes of clothes in tow
9:00- Christmas morning breakfast/opening gifts with immediate Gonzalez family
10:30- Leave for Church
11:00- Church
12:30- Lunch and opening presents with immediate Felt family
2:00- 2nd Lunch, opening gifts and penny auction with the Roger's (my mom's extended family) family
5:00- Dinner at the Smith's (Rob's extended family)
8:00- Drive home and get kids in bed
It is a wonderfully packed day. My only problem with the day is our little children wanted to play with their new toys at home and there was NO time to do that. We made up for it on Monday and spent the entire day at home in our jammies.
There are more pictures to come, I just have to upload them first.
Jackson's favorite Christmas memory: playing with his light sabers and legos
Parker's favorite Christmas memory: playing with his little tikes car and action figures, Buzz, Woody and Bullseye (they were escorted around in the car's drink holders)
Meggan's favorite Christmas memory: seeing the look on the children's faces when they opened their presents
Rob's favorite Christmas memory: playing with his Nook and reading a book for a change, and having the entire week to relax between Christmas and New Years.
