Birth Story

Molly's 4 months old and I haven't even documented her birth story.  Life with three kids and a husband in school and working full-time doesn't leave much time for blogging.

Molly Jane Gonzalez was born April 6th, 2013 at 12:55 p.m. weighing 8 lbs. 12 oz.  I went into the hospital that morning around 9 a.m. Rob and I got all checked in and then Dr. Brown came in and broke my water and then I started on the pictocine drip.  I had the anesthesiologist come in a give me an ephidural. We turned on General Conference and I tried to get comfortable.  That wasn't working so well because the contractions were coming so hard and fast and I could feel everything.  I had the anesthesiologist come back three times to get me where I could handle the pain.  By that time I was ready to push.  I seem to remember doing about 10 sets of three pushes each and Molly was out.  By far the easiest delivery, the fastest and the most painful.  She came out very healthy and pink.  She swallow some blood coming out so they sucked her nose and throat out and kept an eye on her for a while after. We then moved to our recovery room and spent some time just Rob, Molly and I getting to know each other.

Visitors came, my mom brought Jackson and Parker to meet Molly.  I will never forget the look on Jackson's face as he came into the room.  It was better than any Christmas morning.  He was reverent, excited and tender all in one.  He kept asking me if we could take her home.  Parker had just woken up from a nap and was a little disoriented, but excited to have his baby sister out of moms tummy.

The next two days were spent with Molly and I in the hospital.  We had lots of visitors and my stay was relatively normal.  My last night there I was getting ready for bed and my throat started to itch.  I didn't really think much of it, I just thought it was allergies.  I tried to go to sleep, but I couldn't sleep because my throat itched so bad.  As the night progressed I stared to feel as though my throat was closing off and I was talking really funny.  I called the nurse and she came in and we both were concerned because it kept getting worse and now I felt like I was having a hard time breathing.  I was given a couple doses of beneadryl but that wasn't working.  The doctors tried about 4 or 5 different medications on me and nothing seemed to work.  At one point I had 7 doctors and nurses in my room staring at me not knowing what to do.  I was on oxygen and had a IV of steriods running through me.  With all this going on I asked one of my nurses if there was anyone that could give me a blessing.  It had been 2-3 hours of doctors trying different drugs on me and none of them were working great.  My throat was still pretty swollen, luckily I was starting to breathe a little easier, but I was scared and didn't know what else to try.  It was about 4 am and I got a knock on my door and in walked two gentlemen that said they were there to give me a blessing.  I can't even begin to tell you the power that walked though those doors.  It was a literal power that I felt as those brethren walked in with the ability to exercise their Priesthood.  I have never been happier to have someone come and visit me in the hospital as I was that night.  I knew that medicine wasn't going to be enough to help me- I NEEDED the healing power of the priesthood.  Those gentle spirits put their hands on my head and anointed me with the healing oil and proceeded to give me a blessing.  In that blessing the Lord promised me that I would be healed completely and that my body would return to functioning as it was meant to.  I was told that the Lord was aware of my circumstance and he was there to help.  After the blessing was over I shook the hands of those two guarding angles and thanked them. They left my room and I knew that everything would be fine. I was able to get a couple hours of sleep in the early morning and then the day started.  I called Rob that morning and told him what had happened- up to that point I had been very strong, but on the phone I just lost it.  I cried and cried, I was emotionally and physically exhausted.  I had just had a baby and a reaction to who knows what.  I was so grateful to be still be here and be able to breathe.  We left the hospital that day after I was discharged and looked over time and again.  I think that I had an allergic reaction to IB Prophen. I also think that that was what caused my two year chronic hives.  I was taking it pretty much daily along with 3 zyrtec and they seemed to be combating with each other in my body.  I was sent home from the hospital with and epi-pin and NO IB Prophen.  I have to admit the next couple weeks recovery were a little rough on the pain scale, but tylenol does take the edge off.

Most importantly I am ok, Molly was born healthy and strong and my already strong testimony of the healing power of the priesthood was strengthened yet again.  Every time I give birth there is a literal miracle, not only the miracle of receiving this special spirit from heaven, but a miracle in preserving my life.  I would not be here to raise these children if it wasn't for modern medicine.

Molly has been an absolute joy to have in our home.  She is a calm, happy baby.  She adores her brothers and smiles the biggest for them.  She is so patient with the smothering love she receives.  I am always amazed at how fast time goes by with a newborn baby.

We love you dearly Molly Jane and are so blessed to have you in our family!

Molly Jane

Meet Molly Jane, she is the newest member of our family.  Molly was born April 6 at 12:55 p.m., weighing in at 8 lbs. 12 oz. She was two days over-due, which is something I never thought would happen.  We are so thrilled that she is here, happy and healthy.

Wedding Bells for J & J

On March 28th Jeremy, my little brother, the last sibling got married to his sweetheart Jessica Wright.  The day was beautiful, fun and full of love and happiness.  We started off the festivities in the most important place the Temple.  Jeremy and Jessica were sealed together for all eternity by the power of the priesthood.  It was scared and special and what a blessing it was to be there in the Temple with ALL of my family to partake of the sweet spirit that only the Temple can afford.  Jeremy and Jessica have now started their own family unit.  They were brilliant and shining and so, so happy.  After the Temple we had the wedding luncheon at Joseph Smith Memorial Building.  It was short and simple- the food was great and we had a fun time talking about Jeremy and Jessica.  Each sibling from both sides of the family stood up and shared a memory about the corresponding sibling.  It was fun and light.

We then moved onto the reception at Cactus and Tropicals.  We had SO much fun there.  It was great to see all our friends and family.  On occasions like these it really makes you feel so blessed to have such wonderful people in your life- people who have shaped you, supported your family and loved you.  It takes a village, literally, and the village showed up to support Jeremy and Jessica!

One of my favorite memories of the night has to be dancing with my two boys.  Jackson and Parker got out on the dance floor with their 9-month pregnant mom and they danced their hearts out.  Parker has some serious moves...

The reception was beautiful, but not as beautiful as the bride.  Jessica was literally glowing!  Jeremy couldn't take his eyes off her- So excited for these two and what life has in store for them.

Baby Pink

I really should have been blogging about this pregnancy all along, but alas I haven't and now it's time for this little girl, yes I said it GIRL to be born.  I am 38 weeks pregnant and feeling very overdue.  I've never made it this far before with any of my other pregnancies.  Jackson was born at 33 weeks and Parker was born at 36.  This little girl is holding on- which is fine as long as now she stays in until after Jeremy my little brother gets married Thursday.

The pregnancy for the most part has been fairly normal, even for me.  I was sick, more sick than any of the others and longer.  I didn't stop taking my nausea medication until week 30.  I had my Progesterone shots weekly- administered by my dear friend Becca.  They weren't too bad (I actually started to crave the hormonal balance it gave me).  All the ultrasounds and tests have come back normal.  Although all of that has gone well, you still worry and fret over the baby and your own body.  I had a couple scares one at the beginning and one near 31 weeks, but things got taken care of and now I'm holding out to the end.  I now fully understand how uncomfortable and hard the end of pregnancy gets.

I can't quite wrap my head around having a daughter- I am so looking forward to it.  I love my boys, all of them including the big one (the husband), but it will be interesting to see how having some more pink in the house changes the dynamic of the family.  Jackson and Parker have been really sweet lately and I can tell they know the end is near.  Jackson will come up and want to touch my stomach and feel the baby move.  He talks about his little sister all the time.  Parker will look at me when I am labored from walking up the stairs and say, "It's okay mom, you can do it".  He will also say to me, "Mom, you are beautiful and you are a princess".  It's nice to know there is some sweetness wrapped up in all that energy.

I am prepared for this baby.  All the baby stuff, clothes and diapers are bought, washed and put away.  I've had a lot of fun getting ready for her to come.  I've had to reign myself in though...girl clothes are SO cute and I keep thinking, "oh, she needs one of those and this and..." well you get the point.

We're excited to meet this little baby as soon as she decides its time to get here.

No More Naps

No more naps for the two year old means...falling asleep anywhere and everywhere.

Falling asleep in front of the TV watching a show

Falling asleep in any car ride longer than 5 mins

Holiday's are Jolly Days

Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's came and went.  We had a great time, made some memories and played a LOT.

Halloween was spent trick-or-treating at the care centers by our house and then off to the Ward trunk-or-treat.  The kids got WAY too much candy, but they had a great time.  For weeks after Parker kept asking to go trick-or-treating.

Thanksgiving dinner we went to the Gonzalez's had a fun time, ate lots and played games. Then we did our traditional decorating Gingerbread houses at the Felt's.

Christmas was SO much fun.  The kids were so excited and we did a lot of activities throughout December to keep us busy.  We made candy trains, did our advent house everyday (we do a little something everyday to celebrate the season.  Most of the time it's something little like drink a cup of hot chocolate, but sometimes it is something big like going to a party or a fun outing), decorating cookies and making marshmallow snowflakes.  We played out in the snow, went to see the lights at Temple Square and visited the Grand America's window display.  Some of the kids favorite memories of Christmas were getting new light-up light-sabers and Jedi capes.  It's almost mid-January and they haven't set them down.  Rob and I were happy to spend some time together during the Christmas and New Year's break.  He didn't have work or school so we got his undivided attention for that week.

New Year's we rung in with the Morley's.  We celebrated by eating a BUNCH of great food, playing games and staying up until midnight.  Our new tradition however is to eat waffles at midnight and toast in the New Year with sparkling cider.

Major Catch-Up

I know, BIG slacker on the Blogging front.  I guess I better catch-up and then move forward to better blogging days ahead.

Summer Happenings- we spent most of our summer playing in the backyard, swimming at the pool and eating popsicles.  We had lots of play-dates at the park and BBQ's in the backyard.  We did get a couple trips in, one to Bear Lake, a trip up to Jackson, WY and a visit to Arizona to see our new cousin/nephew.  We had two new nephews born this summer, one to Josh and Cheryl of the Arizona Felt's and one to James and Natalie of the SLC Gonzalez's.

We spent a lot of time tending to the garden and the backyard.  We put up a new swing set/play place in the backyard and spent the rest of the summer playing on it.

I made a couple trips to Brighton Girls Camp to make cinnamon rolls for the staff and visitors.

We had the 4th of July and the 24th.

Rob started the Executive Master of Business Program in August at the University of Utah.

Jackson started Kindergarten.

We found out the we are pregnant with our third child who is a GIRL and she is due in April.

That about gets us through September...
