New Years 2011

I sadly neglected to take any pictures of New Year's, but it was fun nonetheless. The week between Christmas and New Year's was not as relaxing as we'd hoped. Some of it was self-inflicted and some was not. If you remember one of our previous posts I showed the damage inflicted upon our home through the "Great Wind Storm of 2011". The day after Christmas was new roof day. The roofers showed up at sun-up and didn't leave until sun-down. In one day they had the entire roof taken down (which was three layers and one was wood shake shingles), plywood put up on top of the skip deck and all the dry seal done. They worked liked the Flash. They finished up later that week with Shingles and membrane on the "flatter" parts of our roof. As for the self-inflicted non-relaxing part, we decided to remodel a bathroom while Rob was home and had some time. It feels so nice to have a more updated bathroom- that is brighter and makes me happy every time I go in.

New Year's was celebrated with a dinner out on the 30th with just adults- and a little celebration for Rob and I of the day we got engaged 11 years ago. New Year's eve we celebrated with our friends the Morley's, with dinner in, games and letting the kiddos play. Why is everything about food for me? A sign of a GREAT night is really good food- the menu was: Filet Mignon, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Salad, fresh baked rolls, vegetable, Tres Leche and Becca's super AWESOME Brazilian lemonade. Neither us or the kiddos made it to midnight which was a good thing because we had early morning church the next morning. All in all it was a great way to usher in the New Year.
