Fan Fest- GO UTES!!

This was our first year attending Fan Fest up at the University of Utah...WOW, that was SO MUCH FUN! We got to meet the coaches and players from all sports and play with LOTS of fun toys on the Stadium field. Jack was in heaven...going on the field and seeing Swoop in one day makes a three year old pretty happy, oh did I mention that he meet the "Dancing Lady" as well. Good times, maybe next year I'll remember my camera.

Rounding Out the Summer

With Summer winding down I wanted to make sure we got all the things done that we wanted to before school starts and the schedule begins. For the most part I think we did it. We've been packing in the fun lately!! I wish I had taken more pictures, but we made lots of great memories. We've made our way to the Children's Garden, This is the Place Park, University of Utah Natural History Museum, Tracy Aviary, the Driving Range a couple times and of course our old stand by, Children's Museum and the Zoo. The kiddos and I have been all over "cashing in our fun tickets". School starts next week and we can now buckle down and have more fun there!!

Human Tricks

There is one thing that I can do that is one of those things you only tell people about when they ask if you can do and "Stupid Human Tricks". That one thing has been passed onto my son- now we can do that party trick together!

Yep you guessed it, FIST IN THE MOUTH!!

Sharing

Jack and I had quite the discussion yesterday about sharing your toys with Parker. I told him that if he didn't share his toys with Parker then Parker wouldn't share his toys with him (Parker was looking at a new baby toy). I stepped out of the room for a minute and this is what I came back to. Jack was most definitely sharing, and his PRIZE trains non-the-less. I was very proud of him- now if only that would continue for the rest of their lives :).

This little man has made it to the Laughing Out Loud stage and I couldn't be more in love with those giggles. He has the entire family wrapped around his fingers. We all crowd around him to hear those laughs. I LOVE this stage...smiles and giggles!!!

Trying to Wrap My Head Around...

These last few weeks have been a little crazy. Rob has been working a ton lately and doing the single parent thing is hard on us all, but that's not what I am trying to wrap my head around. We've heard some news about multiple close friends that is a little hard to process. Choices that we make affect not just ourselves, but our entire circles. This weekend we also found out that a dear friend of our family passed away suddenly. He was so young- My head and heart feel like they can't quite get things processed.

Last night as Rob and I finally sat down next to each other we grabbed each others hands and I realized how fragile everything is. I am SO BLESSED and I hope and pray that I can be the person I need to be to continue to live with my loving husband and beautiful children for a long time to come.

24th of July aka Pioneer Day

Pioneer Day is a Utah thing, but I think I like it more than the 4th of July (gasp)! I have so many fond memories of the 24th of July- pie eating contests, sleeping out on Main Street for the Day's of 47 Parade, fireworks, backpacking with Rob, and big mountain men breakfasts with the family are just a few. For the last couple years we've nixed the Day's of 47 Parade and have started a new tradition of going to our local (small town feel) parade on the 23rd and watching the firework show down the street from our house. It's so fun! Here are a couple pictures of the parade.

Red Castle

Rob and his brother James took a backpacking trip to Red Castle. They had a great time, caught lots of fish and had some brother bonding time. We sure missed having Rob home, but we are certainly jealous of the scenery!

Parker's Blessing Day

Parker's Blessing day fell on the 4th of July. It was a FANTASTIC day, temperature was in the 80's we had ALL our family and friends there and Parker was the star of the day! Rob gave Parker a BEAUTIFUL blessing. Parker has come into our home with such a calm spirit, he is a really easy going baby. We are so grateful for Parker in our lives and we can't wait to see him grow and develop. Parker wore the same blessing outfit that Jackson wore, which is the same one that my older brother Josh wore, which was made by my Grandma Rogers. I think it is really special to have something as simple as an outfit or a blanket that is passed along to bless your children in- it has history and now the legacy continues. On a side note I waited until the very last second possible to put Parker in the outfit so he wouldn't spit-up on it. Well...of course right before we are getting out the door- a complete SPIT-UP ERUPTION. I mean this was no little spit-up, it DRENCHED his outfit. For the next 10 min. I tried to dry it out, needless to say, he was a little damp when he was blessed. Good thing I had a really warm blanket to wrap him in! Speaking of blankets- I'm not really sentimental about much, but the blessing outfit was one thing I am about and the other is the blanket in which we bless our children in. When I studied in Jerusalem I brought home some white baby blankets from Bethlehem. It just makes things seem a little more special- I hope I will be able to pass those blankets along to my grandchildren when they get blessed. I've rambled on enough about the day- here are some fun pictures of the party afterward.

Catch-Up 4th of July

4th of July fell on a Sunday this year so we celebrated all weekend long! We started off with the annual Ward breakfast and Parade. The Parade Route starts at the end of the street where the church is located. We have a color guard of past Veterans that start off the Parade and then all the kids follow on their bikes decorated for the festivities.
