Trying Not to Complain But....

Rob travels with his job and I've come to accept that, but this time around has been a killer. It seems that inevitably something always happens when he's gone. One time it was the swamp cooler that broke down, another time a couple years ago it was the little valve on the toilet that broke and there was water everywhere. We've had trips to the ER and this time around has been the 24 hour stomach flu for us all. Can I just say that cleaning up throw-up and poop isn't my idea of a good time. Jack got sick first right after Rob left, then it was my turn and I thought we were out of it and tonight at dinner Parker had his turn all over Jack and I. Dealing with sick kids and being sick yourself is no fun, not to mention being a single-parent while doing it.

What I've come to learn and appreciate is, that being a single-parent is really, really hard and I am SO thankful I don't have to do it full-time. I also am SO grateful for the amazing support system that I have. Family and friends are my only sanity when Rob is so, so very far away. I have come to dread these long trips for Rob, not only because they are hard on him, but I just keep thinking what will happen this time. Enough complaints- time to re-wash the kitchen floor, change the laundry and take a shower!

Totally, totally understand how you feel. I felt like a single parent while Cameron was in school because he was gone before the kids got up until much after they were in bed at night. It is a hard, hard thing. I can sympathize. You're not alone!

I know how hard it is to have a husband that travels. But when times get to tough just remember how blessed you are to be close to family and know that your husband is not in a dangerous zone while he is working every day. The things that get me through is offering a "Thankful Prayer" at the end of the day. To remind me of all the blessings I have in my life even though it is hard to have my husband deployed.
Love you guys! Wish we were closer!
