Mother’s Day…
I am so happy for all those mother’s out there who had an exceptional day with breakfast in bed, flowers and showered with gifts all day long. Really, truly, from the bottom of my heart, bless you for all you do, you deserve it! My day however was a little different. It was a nice day :). My siblings and I have a tradition of cooking my mom dinner…I look forward to that. This year we tried some new recipes and it all turned out beautiful! The company was exceptional and delicious food always makes moms happy.
I was at the Doctor’s office this morning and a couple moms were talking about their day and one made the comment that if she didn’t have any expectations that her day goes great. Another mom made the comment that she tries to be the best mom on mother’s day. For that weekend leading up to mother’s day they go and do a bunch of fun things as a family. I was sitting there taking notes. As a new mom, I think we all have these preconceived notions, voiced or not of how the day is suppose to go. Don’t get me wrong, I had a really great day. I felt the spirit of womanhood very strong and I can’t complain. I am just jotting down my feelings for next year. No expectations and I want to be the very best woman/mom I can be that day.
The other thing that I think about on Mother’s Day is how many women out there that are not technically “mothers”, but are very much mothers. There are so many single women that need to be celebrated as well. I feel it should be a celebration of not only mothers, but womanhood in general. Let me take a minute to thank the mothers of my life. Thank you most of all to my own mother, Debbie Felt; you are one remarkable woman. You are an example of faith, grace and beauty…I honestly feel that all good things I learned from my mother. Now for the other mother’s, Judy Norman and Dixie Hall have been two other mothers that have taught me great things. Judy has taught me to love diversity and knowledge. Dixie has taught me to love art and nature. Then there are all the single women that have passed through my life teaching me and nurturing me, Jan, Cindy, Karen, Susan and Jenny are just a few. To all those women out there…Happy Mother’s Day, you are a mother to me!

hey megg- sorry, been outta the blogging loop, was gone for 2 weeks to WA. we close on our house in b'ful next week and then we will have you all over for a bbq. :) hope all is going well. little jack is so big! i don't think we are ever going to stop asking ourselves where the time goes. fun to see that you are taking him out and doing fun things, love reading your blog and seeing the pics. talk soon
What an awesome entry. I loved what those moms had to say while you were in the dr.'s office. I love hearing what other mom's think and say about Mother's Day. And, I think you are an awesome mom!
